I dropped out of the Chicago Marathon today at 21.5 miles. Unfortunately, I was not 100 percent today -- and the heat was the nail in the coffin. Things started heading south around 20K (went through the half in a few ticks over 1:13).
I will write more ... but probably not until Wednesday.
For now, I just want to thank my family, friends and teammates for all of their support. I am truly blessed.

DM, I'm really sorry to have read that you dropped out. Although upsetting, find solace in that you are an incredible runner, you are young and your best running is ahead of you. Also know there is an entire team behind you to offer support and get you ready for the next one. There will be others!

I was there and it wasn't my best day either. I saw the runner drop out sections and thought about it a number of times. There will be other marathons, but I understand the disappointment of training for one race, only to have it not be your day. Good luck!
